General Help
Your goal is to help Barney Bee fill his hive with honey. You need to achieve the highest score you can on each quest to try to reach target scores to earn 3 jars of honey. Every quest Barney goes on is different and the goal for each individual quest is explained before you start playing.
Use the WordBuzz forums to discuss hints and tips for completing quests.

Scoring
Your score for the main game is displayed on the quest selection screen. On each quest there are 3 honey jars that you need to gain by achieving target scores. If you gain 2 jars your score will be multiplied by 2. If you gain 3 jars then your score will be multiplied by 3. So if you score 10,000 points and gain all three honey jars your score for the quest will be 30,000.
Long words score much more highly than short words. Each letter has an allocated score and the colour of the letter denotes letters with similar scores. If you touch a letter, the letter’s score will be displayed in the score display box.
This is where we get technical! The score for a word is calculated by adding the score of all the individual letters and multiplying that by the length twice.
wordscore = letterscore × length × length
For example, a 3 letter word where each letter is worth 5 points would be calculated as
(5 + 5 + 5) × 3 × 3 = 135
A 6 letter word where each letter is worth 5 points would be calculated as
(5 + 5 + 5 + 5 + 5 + 5) × 6 × 6 = 1080
When you are in the process of creating a word, the score of the word you’re creating will be shown in the score display along with the selected word.
There is a connect button at the top of the main menu screen when not connected. Click this and follow the onscreen instructions. If you cannot see the button then you have connected to Facebook successfully.
Connecting to Facebook serves 3 purposes.
- Your progress is backed up. If you lose your device or get a new device then you can continue from where you were in the game.
- You can play on multiple devices. You might want to play on a phone on your way to work and a tablet at home. Connecting to Facebook will synchronise your progress across both devices.
- You can compete with friends. You’ll be able to see friends’ scores and try to beat them.

Android
WordBuzz itself doesn’t require any special permissions, all the permissions are required by our advert providers. If you pay to remove adverts then you’ll be able to turn off all permissions if you’re using Android 6.0 or above. Google doesn’t go a great job of explaining the granted permissions either as it groups them, so I’ll try to do a better job here.
Allow WordBuzz to access this devices’s location?
Ad providers use this for geo-targeting adverts. That means they might advertise a shop that you’re currently close to.
Allow WordBuzz to make and manage phone calls?
This is a poor description by Google. WordBuzz doesn’t make or manage phone calls. This is used by ad providers to read IMEI number from your phone. This can be used to uniquely identify your device so they don’t show you the same adverts across multiple applications.
Allow WordBuzz to access photos, media and files on your device?
Video ad providers will download videos to your device and save them before they are shown. That way you don’t have problems with videos that keep freezing due to a poor internet connection. This permission is used to save the videos to your device and show them when ready.
